IN STEP: 2009 ASPIRA CLUBS FEDERATION OFFICERS ELECTED

On November 14, 2008, ASPIRA Clubs Federation had its annual dinner at the new ASPIRA headquarters in downtown Hartford to officially induct the 2008 - 2009 officers for the ASPIRA Club Federation. The ASPIRA Clubs Federation (ACF) is a student council consisting of Club officers from across the state. The purpose of the ACF is to serve as a link between all state Leadership Clubs. The ACF meets twice a month to share ideas and concerns on youth-related issues and to plan and coordinate activities on a statewide level. Annual statewide activities which are structured, organized and implemented by students include a Youth Conference, fundraisers, community service projects, cultural activities and the ASPIRA Areyto (prom). The ACF is governed by a set of Bylaws based on parliamentary procedure.

Over past years the number of students involved in the after school programs has climbed dramatically. While the program has consistently aided Hispanic/Latino students toward academic success; it has also significantly strengthened the backbone of our community, providing venues for our children to become future leaders in America; taking what they learn in class and applying it in the real world. Each of the 8 nominees, were required to complete an application, submit their transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and a 500 word essay on leadership. Congratulations to each of you on your achievement!
